Detailed review of Laserbox purchase

I purchased the Laserbox with the Rotary Attachment a few weeks ago for my small crafting business. The ordering process on the website was straightforward, though I did spend some time comparing it to the xTool models before deciding. Shipping took about a week and a half, which was within their estimated timeframe to my location in New York. Both boxes arrived well-packaged and without any damage. Setup of the Laserbox itself was fairly intuitive with the included guide, and connecting the rotary attachment wasn't too difficult. I've used it on various materials like cardboard and basswood sheets, and the results have been consistent and precise. The software is user-friendly, even for someone who isn't an expert in laser cutting. My only minor point would be that some of the online tutorials could be a bit more in-depth for advanced features, but overall, it's a robust machine that performs as advertised. The quality feels premium, and I'm confident it will last.

Good product, slow shipping

I ordered a CyberPi for a project I was working on. The device itself is solid, works well with the mBlock software, and has a lot of potential for teaching. However, the shipping took longer than I anticipated, about 8 days to reach me in California. I understand things happen, but a slightly faster delivery would have been ideal. Packaging was secure, and customer service was responsive when I inquired about the shipping status, which was a plus. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product's quality and the support, but the delivery speed could use a bit of improvement for future orders.

Love my xTool M1!

Just received my xTool M1 and I'm so happy with it! I got it with some acrylic sheets and it cuts like a dream. Setup was easier than I thought it would be, and I've already made a bunch of cool stuff. I can't wait to try more projects! This was definitely a great purchase and I'll be looking at their other stuff soon!

Got the xTool D1, it's cool

So I finally caved and bought the xTool D1 laser engraver. Been wanting one for a while. It got here pretty quick, maybe 4 days? Setup wasn't too bad, just followed the instructions. Used it on some basswood sheets already and it worked great. My friends were impressed with what I made, it's definitely a fun new toy. Didn't have any issues with the order or anything.

Always reliable, mBot Neo

I've ordered from Makeblock a few times now, mainly for the mBot series. This last order was for an mBot Neo, and it came just as expected. They're consistent, which is why I keep coming back. Shipping took about 6 days to get to me in Texas, which is pretty standard for them. No surprises, which is good when you're planning lessons around these robots.

Thinking of getting an xTool D1 but I'm worried about potential issues. What's the warranty like on their laser cutters? Is it worth it?

C Cleo H. 2 months ago
I had a small issue with my F1 and their support was pretty good. They honored the warranty for a part replacement, which was nice. I think it's usually a year, maybe more for some components?

Yeah, xTool stuff usually has a pretty solid warranty. You're covered if anything goes wrong within the first year, afaik. Definitely makes it worth it for the price.

are these robots good for really young kids? like 5-6 year olds? or is it too complicated for them?

E Emma A. 3 months ago
My 6-year-old niece absolutely loves the Codey Rocky. The block coding is pretty intuitive for them. They do have some simpler kits too.

I'd say for 5-year-olds it might be a bit much without adult help. My 7-year-old got into the mBot with some guidance, but the block coding does help a lot.

Does Makeblock ever do good sales around the holidays? Like for Christmas or anything?

G Greg 2 months ago
Oh yeah, totally! They had some decent discounts last Christmas, especially on the older mBot models. I snagged one for like 20% off I think.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually their big ones. Saw some awesome deals then, like 30% off on a laser cutter once.

How do Makeblock robots compare to LEGO Mindstorms? I'm trying to decide which system to get for a school club.

N Noor J. 2 months ago
Makeblock is usually a bit more open-ended and has more metal parts, feels sturdier. Mindstorms is great for the LEGO ecosystem if you're already into that, but sometimes feels a bit more locked in. Software for Makeblock is free too.

For a school club, Makeblock might be more versatile. My kids found the mBlock software easier to pick up than the Mindstorms equivalent initially. Plus, the price point for Makeblock can be better for bulk buys.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes for a mBot kit to arrive in California? Thinking of getting one for my nephew's birthday next month.

T Tara Carter 3 months ago
From my experience, I'm in NorCal and it usually took about a week, maybe 8-9 days max. Depends on if it's a busy time of year I guess.

Mine came super fast, like 5 days to LA. They ship out pretty quick it seems.
